Class trip this Monday to the

We will viewing two exhibits:

1. Henri Matisse: The Cut-Outs and
2. The Paris of Toulouse-Lautrec: Prints and Posters

I will meet you at 2:15 in Professor Dever’s class and we will leave straight from there. We will take the F train subway to 47th Street and 6th Ave. We will then walk to 53rd – location of the MOMA.

  • I have extra subway tickets if you need
  • Museum is free -> bring your CityTech id

Week9 – ADV1162

DUE Today

  • 5 sketches of poster layouts (pencil on paper – with a border around each sketch. Sketches should mimic the proportions of the poster).
  • Copy (text) for poster. This should include:
    1. title of your poster
    2. at least 15 food locations and at least three categories: ie restaurants, coffee-shops, and supermarkets.
    3. no more than 5 food-chains (we want to encourage local business).
    4. You should know the amount of time (roughly) it takes to get to each location from CityTech.

In Class – Poster Research

1. Meet with your scavenger teams. Combine your scavenger hunt research with group. If there is any overlap you will be asked to go find more options. In group use the materials provided in class to brainstorm mapping options. Materials include: Print out of map of downtown Brooklyn and tracing paper.
Your Mission:

  • Brainstorm mapping options.
  • Represent key locations of your findings on the map abstractly or symbolically in relation to City Tech.
  • How might you graphically depict the locations of the restaurants you found in relation to City Tech without a Google map and still make it very clear to someone seeking directions?
